Tip of the Week

Have you ever wondered about the genealogy of California? Are you from the area or do you have relatives who were born and raised in California? Did you know that even states have a genealogy?

California actually started as a colonial province of Spain from 1769 to 1821. This is why there is so much Spanish influence in the state today.

California was made a state on September 9th, 1850. More importantly, droves of settlers came from the Eastern United States a few years before that in hopes of striking it rich by finding gold in the hills of California.

California became a cornucopia of cultures thanks to the many settlers with various genetic make up who came to live on this great land.

Today, California is home to over 33 million people who are from every country in the world. Quite a diverse genealogy indeed!
