January 24, 2003, Newsletter Issue #80: Make a timeline!

Tip of the Week

If you´re stuck on a particular ancestor and need some clues on where to look next, or if you just want to see how that ancestor fits into the general fabric of history, what do you do? You make a timeline!

For example, if a timeline shows that there was a war during the time that your ancestor was of age to be in the military, this should lead you to query military records for that period of time.

One great site to help you create timelines on an ancestor (or for yourself!) is "Our Timelines" at www.ourtimelines.com.
