Before starting your genealogy research you will need to have a general idea of what you're searching for. Here are some helpful suggestions that will help to get you started:

Write down what you already know about your family.Ask yourself exactly what you want to learn about your family. Do you want to learn where your ancestors were born, when they died, when they were born? The more specific you are the better to help your search.Decide what type of records you want to search. Do you want to search compiled records or original records? Compiled records are researched by others and original records are records that are created at the time of the event.How you organize your information is up to you.
