Tip of the Week

Are you an amateur genealogist looking to explore your Baptist roots? Not too sure what to look for or how to start your search? Plenty of websites will provide you with historical Baptist information to begin your search. Just what should you be looking for in this online exploration?

You should find a website that offers you information on several different ways to research. Being able to research tombstone transcriptions, cemeteries, church records, obituaries, Baptist newspapers, baptisms and biographies of famous Baptists would be very helpful for your genealogical research. Two men to keep in mind when looking for biographies is to search John Smyth and Thomas Helwys, the two primary founders of the Baptist faith. You may even be able to do a search of your last name to see if you are somehow related to these men.
